How to Make Name Server (NS) in Godaddy Domain December 5, 2009
Posted by admin in : Website , trackbackGoDaddy.com is a domain name registration services are quite popular and flexible payment via Paypal or Credit Card. Today I happened to move hosting to a new web server that automatically HostGator given Name Server (NS) are usually like this ns1234.hostgator.com, ns1235.hostgator.com
You can change the Name Server directly on Godaddy Domain Panel with your NS hosting. But in this tutorial I will explain how to create custom Name Server from the domain of the registration at godaddy.com
Here’s help in godaddy.com
Registering Your Own Nameservers
To Register Your Own Hosts
- Log in to your Account Manager.
- In the My Products section, click Domains.
- Click the domain for which you want to create a host.
- In the Host Summary section, click the add hyperlink in the header.
- In the Host name field, enter the host name you want to register.NOTE: Do not enter “www” as part of your host name.
- In the Host IP fields, enter the IP address(es) you want to add to the host.
- Click OK.
It takes 4 to 8 hours to register hosts for .COM and .NET domains and 24 to 48 hours for all other domain extensions.
Help from above GoDaddy actually quite clear, for example login and select my product then click domain.
However, the location was wrong here, do not give a check mark in front of the domain that you will be creating nameserver, but just click the domain in question.

The result you will be taken to a page host summary
Next search section Hostname (lower left corner), then click link add.

Then will come the hostname settings page, enter the hostname that will be made, for example ns1.yourdomain.com (just enough
type ns1 it because domain is automatically filled in) and input your IP hosting and then click ok.
Repeat once more to make a second hostname, such as ns2.yourdomain.com

Wait a moment, nameserver from your domain have been created. Nameserver propagantion at least need time 2 x 24 hours for give chance dns server in the world do refresh dns.
Note : The article above not for redirect a domain to a web server, but for make nameserver from your domain self. If you want redirect a new domain to a web server or hosting server, enough give check mark in front of your domain then click nameserver on menu above, then input nameserver that given by your webhosting.

Hi, your tutorial was of great help, thanks. Now, I may sound kind of stupid since I’m really newbie to DNS stuff, but once the DNS propagation is done, what should I do at my dedicated server to go visible?
I’m using Webmin and Virtualmin with CentOS in Linux.
Thanks again. Cheers!
