How to Install Windows XP on Your Notebook with SATA HDD with or without Floppy Disk February 11, 2010
Posted by admin in : Computer Tips , trackbackDue to Type Harddisk Notebook currently uses SATA and still many users who choose Operating System Windows XP, while Windows XP itself can not recognize SATA hard disk directly so often the user/customer says is corrupt or the hard drive is not recognized during installation of Windows.
But the actual hard drive is not damaged we only need to install the SATA hard disk drivers at the beginning of the Windows XP installation or you can disable SATA features on the notebok if the BIOS supports.
Here’s how to install a notebook with SATA hard drive type with 2 ways:
I. “DISABLE” SATA NATIVE SUPPORT
This is done if the “BIOS” in the Notebook/Laptop supports to disable SATA NATIVE SUPPORT, namely in the following way:
- Enter the BIOS menu (Press F10 – COMPAQ immediately after the display appears, for Notebook Compaq)
- Select Menu System Configuration
- Select SATA NATIVE SUPPORT
- Change to DISABLE
- Save changes and exit the BIOS menu
- After restart, do Windows XP installation
II. Installation using “External DiskDrive/Floppy Drive”
If the BIOS on the NoteBook/Laptop is not found in the menu to disable SATA NATIVE SUPPORT (as in step 1 above) then Windows XP installation should be done by using the External Floppy DiskDrive.
In this way you absolutely need a computer equipped with a Floppy Disk Drive and a blank Floppy disk that functions to ekstract SATA driver files. Floppy drives can also be an external USB Floppy Disk Drive.
Do copy / extract the SATA driver files to a floppy disk / diskette.
Then do the installation as usual, when the message “Press F6 to Install a Third Party Driver”, press F6 and when asked the driver, navigate to the External USB Floppy drive. Select the appropriate driver. Then continue with the installation of Windows XP as usual.
Special Compaq Presario Notebook, could do the following steps:
- Open the CD Driver (copy) that is included on the computer (notebook/PC) that have been there the Operating System and have DiskDrive
- Explore Driver CD (on a computer that is the DiskDrive)
- Sign In/Select Directory\Public\HDD SATA
- Select Directory HDD965/HDD 945 in accordance with specifications Notebook, example:
- Notebook Pressario 3430/3422 – i945 Chipset select Directory 945
- Notebook Pressario 3535/3504 – i965 Chipset select Directory 965 - Run the file in the directory (will ask for disk)
- Insert the desired blank floppy wait until finished.
- Take a diskette that has become the installation in preparation for Notebooks
- Prepare the notebook to be installed, Install External DiskDrive
- Booting Notebook with Windows XP
- Wait a few moments until the blue screen appears and press F6 as soon as possible.
- Wait a few moments to appear to enter the command/load the desired driver
- -> press S -> Appear the message to insert Diskette Driver that will LOAD
- Insert Diskette Drive (point 7) Press Enter
- Wait a few moments to appear a few options that Drivers will be installed.
- Select the appropriate drivers with the type of Notebooks (example: ICH8 SATA AHCI mobile u / Intel 965 Chipset).
- Press Enter.
- Continue the installation process as usual and don’t take Diskette until RESTART.
Other brand notebook, can use these steps as a guide, you can adjusted at the installation of SATA drivers.
