Hardware specifications given here are estimates of nature, you can run Ubuntu on hardware specifications below, but its performance may be a little less satisfying. The minimum specification is only for server installations (non-graphical). The recommended minimum specifications are the specifications for the installation of ubuntu with the graphical display.
Desktop Installation
Most people want to install desktop systems such as Ubuntu, Kubuntu or Xubuntu. Desktop systems are typically used for personal purposes and has a graphical user interface (GUI).
Minimum Specifications
Ubuntu can be run with the minimum hardware specs as below, but the system will run with no maximum.
- 300 MHz x86 processor
- 64 MB RAM
- At least 4 GB of disk space (for full installation and swap space)
- VGA graphics card with a resolution of 640×480
- CD-ROM drive or network card.
Recommended Minimum Specifications
Ubuntu will run normally on the computer with minimum hardware specifications like the following. However, features visual effects likely will not run with the good.
- 700 MHz x86 processor
- 384 MB RAM
- 8 GB of disk space
- Graphic card with a resolution of 1024×768
- Sound card
- Internet connection
Note: All 64-bit (x86-64) PC will be running Ubuntu. Use the installation CD is 64-bit optimized.
Recommended for the visual effect
Visual effect gives you a variety of special graphical effects for desktop look better and beautiful is also easy to use. If your computer is not able to run the visual effects, it is better not to activate it but you can still use the Ubuntu desktop well.
Visual effects will be active by default if your computer is equipped with a graphics card that supports.
