And one trend caused by hackers on WordPress blogs currently are doing code injection or infiltration. It is not entirely WordPress fault because they more using the security hole on the server rather than the existing hosting on WordPress. No less a leading web hosting which could become victims, including JaguarPC, Dreamhost, and Servage.
Like what the code is inserted? Is destructive (viruses / malware)? Apparently not. Inserted code which is usually just a redirect or frame to affiliate sites. Maybe this is one black hat techniques in make money online, hehehe.
My blogs themselves are often the victims, especially those stored in the three hosting I mentioned above. Once, when this happens, I chose to take a shortcut – moving the blog injection affected to another hosting.
If on the new hosting injection affected,. yeah.. moving again.
However, there was a more simple and more to solve problems rather than on a nomadic style. Namely by changing the attributes of files that are often affected by WordPress injection into 444 (r-r-r-) or read-only. After the modified attributes, typically injection attacks will stop.
What files need to be immunized?
- At the root blog directory: index.php, wp-config.php, wp-setting.php.
- All themes files that we use in directory wp-content/themes
